Ecosystem

User Research is more than the in-depth study of a user group in relation to a product, it also covers diverse scope and areas across a business journey, processes, technology and the organisation. This means an ecosystem of different stakeholders that collectively build skills and scope for user research making impact. As this ecosystem is still in its nascent stage, the URI initiative sets out to understand its many moving parts and agents of change.

UR Agencies

Coming soon

UR & UX Research focused agencies in India are an important stakeholder that lay the foundation to an early career development of user researchers. This section sets the historical evolution as context to position its current challenges and opportunities for UR agencies in the Indian ecosystem.

Consulting

Consulting in the tech sector spans across industries in India that includes two main categories where user researchers are employed: Traditional/ Top Consulting firms and consulting business units under large tech companies. We will share insights on the scope, challenges and opportunities for UR in the consulting sector so watch out for this space.

Education

Coming soon

User Research practice is yet to be codified into a separate course amongst academia and continues to be clubbed with UX/design centric courses in India. Our researchers come from diverse qualifications such as sociology, psychology, anthropology and design or transitioning from other disciplines. We are keen to explore the evolution of education in user research discipline, identifying the current challenges and opportunities ahead in India.

Social sector

Coming soon

The development sector is an under-estimated opportunity for tech making an impact at scale with non-profit organisations, grass-root NGOs and social enterprises. There is a disproportionate understanding of how user research and behavioural science can be applied and leveraged for tech/ product solutions for billion users. This effort explores the complexities, challenges and opportunities for UR in the Indian Social Sector.
